Hi!
I love to go fishin' on bright sunny days. With all the little fishies just a swimming in the bay. With my hands in my pockets and my pockets in my pants- all the little fishies do the fishy fishy dance.

We are visiting my parents in Hermiston this weekend. My grandparents are up from California. Jus and I went fishing this morning, made apple/pear sauce and then went kayaking! I love being at home.

Happy weekend! I have a working interview next week at a peds clinic! Excited for the future. Bought loads of beautiful fabric Friday and am very inspired.

This is my etsy feedback. Of 30 people who left feedback on their skirts- 28 loved them, 1 felt neutrally, and 1 felt negatively. The one negative Nancy temporarily ruined etsy for me and made me seriously question my design endeavors...

Why do we let other people's opinions define us? There is so much unhappiness in the world.

Let us endeavor to not be a part of the negative infiltrate.

Let us smile, smile, smile and love, love, love.

Life can be stressful. Make a decision to be kind in spite of the stress. Putting others first will take your mind off of the things you don't really need to be worried about anyway.

Fashion exhibit at the LACMA

A couple weekends ago we went to the LA County Museum of Art- the LACMA. We saw an amazing Fashion exhibit with actual period pieces from the 17 and 18 hundreds- amazing!!

After seeing this exhibit I bought several very complicated historical corset patterns... We'll see how they turn out. :)

Life is beautiful. Life is short. More and more I learn what a big deal kindness is. I found this quote in a memoir of a friend's father who passed on unexpectedly. It inspired and resonated with me-

This little dress was one of my first creations. I haven't worn it since my birthday dinner at BJ's. (Don't make fun. It was a school night and they accommodate large groups.) My etsy store is going really well! I'm shocked and pleasantly surprised. I've had orders from 3 continents, which is more/less impressive when you realize I've sold only 4 skirts.
One of my skirts was featured on one of my favorite blogs last week! Thanks to Danni at ohhellofriend! Other grateful shout outs go to Jeremy Hong for his continual technical advice with etsy and paypal. That boy knows the biz! And as always thank you to my darling Ashley for her technical and creative support. It's so nice to have a creative outlet, to share it with others and have them respond so positively. Blame it on bad timing or my unfortunate appearance as a child but for whatever reason I have never been a flower girl. I was asked to be a flower girl once but the bride got cold feet. Before the wedding was called off however my mom bought the material to sew me my dress. These earrings were made from the lace from what would have been my one and only flower girl dress.

I haven’t heard from those who I considered my closest friends in weeks. I try to remind myself that life is busy and I am out of sight and thus out of mind, but my loneliness convinces me it’s more. Why do I lose those that I care most about? A friend has been defined as someone who truly knows you and loves you anyway. It seems that those who truly know me always turn away. Are we truly as lonely as we want to be? Or are there things in us that push others away that we have no control over? I’m hurt by the loss and don’t understand. Is it my own incapacity to look beyond others mistakes that isolates me from them?
The bird that just flew overhead, silhouetted against the dark sky, looked as if it was growing tired. Its flapping was labored, unnatural, awkward. These buildings around me are too tall. The cars are too loud and the smog too thick. The bars on the windows give the impression of imprisonment, but they’re merely representative of cruelty and fragility. Would you come back to us? God, in all of this- earth, sky, galaxy, beyond- where are you? What are you? Are you the air I breathe or the warmth of a fire? Are you in the sun setting in the distance or are you the sunset? Is the nostalgic feeling I get from the ocean chemically induced or is that you? Or are all things truly one and I a fool for asking so many questions- for wandering so far from home and feeling so alone?
